Brij Raj Palace is a palace which is about 183 years (approx.) old palace and it is situated in the city of Kota in Rajasthan, India. Actually, it is situated on the banks of river Chambal, which is close to city Kota. This palace is constructed in 1830 A.D.

Several VIP’s, Prime Minister, Kings, and Queens have lived here, and this place has also become the guest house of Kota for VIP’s members. Lord Curzon had visited this place in 1903, and Queen Mary have also stayed here when she visited India. This place is also visited by Prime Minister of India (Mrs. Indira Gandhi).

The Brij Raj Palace in Kota, Rajasthan is known as one of the most haunted places in India and is in the second position in the list of top most haunted places in India.

The story of Brij Raj Palace

This Brij Raj Palace is once a home to Major Charles Burton. He was serving as a British Resident to Kota. During the time of Mutiny of 1857, he was killed by Indian sepoys. Major Charles Burton was killed in the palace along with his is two sons. The soldiers killed them all and later their bodies were buried by the Britishers with full military rights. After the death of major Charles Burtons along with his two sons, this place was used by the Maharaja of Kota. But in 1970’s, the government renovated this place and this place became as Brij Raj Bhawan Hotel.

But many Journalists living in this place had a complaint about this place, that they have seen Major Charles often, in the area where he was killed. His spirit does not harm anyone but the guards often have heard a voice, that someone is speaking in English and telling them not to sleep. Even some guards have also informed that if they sleep during their duty, the spirit of Major Charles Burton slaps them and wake them up.

So due to all these paranormal activities, this place is known as one of the most haunted places in India.
